2012: "The challenges to rid the world of nuclear weapons, harness nuclear power, and meet the nearly inexorable climate disruptions from global warming are complex and interconnected. In the face of such complex problems, it is difficult to see where the capacity lies to address these challenges.” Political processes seem wholly inadequate; the potential for nuclear weapons use in regional conflicts in the Middle East, Northeast Asia, and South Asia are alarming; safer nuclear reactor designs need to be developed and built, and more stringent oversight, training, and attention are needed to prevent future disasters; the pace of technological solutions to address climate change may not be adequate to meet the hardships that large-scale disruption of the climate portendss”

W 2010 r., po huraotymiźmie związanym z deklaracjami rozbrojeniowymi, noblem pokojowym za coś co chce się zrobić, ale się jeszcze nie zrobiło (pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sztuka_konceptualna), naukowcy ustawili wskazówki na 23:54. Jednak Kenette Benedict, dyrektor wykonawczy Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, po powrocie wskazówek do stanu z roku 2007, ogłosił:
"The Science and Security Board is heartened by the Arab Spring, the Occupy movements, political protests in Russia, and by the actions of ordinary citizens in Japan as they call for fair treatment and attention to their needs. Whether meeting the challenges of nuclear power, or mitigating the suffering from human-caused global warming, or preventing catastrophic nuclear conflict in a volatile world, the power of people is essential. For this reason, we ask other scientists and experts to join us in engaging ordinary citizens. Together, we can present the most significant questions to policymakers and industry leaders. Most importantly, we can demand answers and action."

Oprócz zmian klimatycznych powodowanych przez człowieka, eksploatowaniu zasobów naturalnych ziemi, zagrożeń jakie niosą nowe technologie etc., Bulletin of Atomic Scientist monitoruje przede wszystkim szalenstwo ludzkości i jej pęd ku anihilacji. Północ to hipotetyczna zagłada. Nie zdarzyła się jeszcze sytuacja przestawiania wskazówek podczas jedengo roku, ale mam wrażenie, że za kilka miesięcy naukowcy z Chicago będą musieli znowu ruszyć tyłki.
Pragnę przypomnieć że licząc czas ziemi jako dobę, człowiek jest na niej zaledwie 2 minuty.

Founded in 1945 by University of Chicago scientists who had helped develop the first atomic weapons in the Manhattan Project, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists subsequently created the Doomsday Clock in 1947 using the imagery of apocalypse (midnight) and the contemporary idiom of nuclear explosion (countdown to zero), to convey threats to humanity and the planet. The decision to move the minute hand of the Doomsday Clock is made by the Bulletin's Board of Directors in consultation with its Board of Sponsors, which includes 18 Nobel Laureates. The Clock has become a universally recognized indicator of the world's vulnerability to catastrophe from nuclear weapons, climate change, and emerging technologies in the life sciences.
