Domination or Cooperation: Has Culture Lost Its Soul?

So there are two possible approaches, or stances. Domination or cooperation. Cooperation creates freedom for others, because it means I do something with your benefit in mind. Domination destroys the freedom of others but enormously increases such freedom for the perpetrator. But there is a price for the benefit, and the price is to lose others. Others wither, disappear, stop existing. First inwardly for the dominator, because of their attitude; second, physically because of their actions.

And that’s it. It is all reality as it is. If you choose domination, you need objective measures of your achievements. It can be money, it can be the level of control. It can be anything. Doesn’t matter. Only this matters; this is the criterion for what one’s actions are. I would say that show business makes more money than 50 years ago. Yes? Yes. And the filmmaking business makes tons of money too. The question is: Have music and movies become better?

This is a crucial question, so again: Have music and movies become better? Or has human reception and experience with music and movies become more satisfying, deeper, better, richer?

For all these questions, we can resoundingly answer: No. Just no. Movies, with few exceptions, have become shallow, repetitive. Sometimes people watch them because they have nothing else to do, and want some time to forget, to play, but there’s no other offer than dull, boring, primitive, and of course highly educational productions. This is it. Making movies stopped being making movies. It became PRODUCTION. Just like anything else, where the only thing that shapes the whole process, the actions of all actors, is… gain and benefit expressed in money. Even the educational layer, whose goal is to change people’s personalities, attitudes, and values, is there because of money, because of the possible financial result. Because if movies don’t have it, the studio has financial losses. So that’s the situation.

The situation in music is kind of similar. People don’t want to give up, and here and there, some band or artist tries to do something differently. But they are increasingly forgotten; no one is listening to them. 99% is the PRODUCTION of the music business. Music, like movies, becomes the end point of the PRODUCTION process. So trying to compare the current best—let’s say songs—to their equivalents 50 years ago is astounding. The change in the lyrics of songs is very interesting. Much less „we” and „love.” Much more „I, I, I, I.” This is a symptom of what is going on under the surface we see. Music and filmmaking are withering. Diminishing. Dying in some sense.

Why? No one wanted it. People who dominated the industry wanted just domination measured in money. Nothing more. What they produce is tons of production that is very low in real, human qualities. They killed some humanity in culture to gain some more domination. But it is natural.

It will be interesting how it will be with programming. I mean software production. It was always a kind of art, a kind of engineering, something special that required a special approach and attitude from creators. But now it is changing. Software creation is becoming production. And as always, the only thing that counts is ultimate financial gain. Everything else doesn’t matter. So it will be automated by AI. Humans will have to rely on AI systems. And we will get what is given regardless of its value to us. There could be a situation where we will have no choice but to use given software shit.

Ultimately, processes driven by the desire for domination strip all of their participants of humanity, of everything. They USE PEOPLE. Because they see people that way, as a resource to be used. And everything „human” will be extinguished, because there will be just no place for it. We will have more of the same shit movies, shit music, shit software. Those who are used to produce it will become Uber drivers, just people without personality, used in a process. The rest will have no choice.

What I am trying to say is that the drive for domination kills the essence of humanity, maybe even the essence of life. That drive is not from hell, it is not bad as it is. The exaggeration of that drive, making it the engine of all actions, the only criterion for every choice, results, as always, in unbelievable gain and simultaneously in incomprehensible loss. Now, that attitude rules the world and it is bad for humankind. Because music dies, imagination dies, creativity dies. Ingenuity dies. Something very human dies. Humans are perceived by the elite as robots to be exploited, as something that has to be managed. They start to believe that they are special, the chosen ones. So people are—to use a quote—a „useless class”, and that is natural, because the only way that they can see people is in how to use them!

Cooperation, on the other hand, starts with RELATIONSHIP. I mean the relationship between „me” and „you” and vice versa. This is what is most important in the cooperation mode of being. This is what is taught by religious masters, but religion has been abandoned in pursuit of domination. Because cooperation imposes limits, restrictions on your striving to dominate.

So the human-to-human relationship seems to be a fundamental thing. From two-sided relationships arise multi-sided relationships. And perhaps all humanity can exist as that many-sided relationship. But real humanity is always a bottom-up construction. It is not that it has to be shaped by ideas coming from the elite. It is that ideas are born inside relationships. And these relationships create people’s freedom. And in this freedom, miracles of creativity happen. But it means no one can be allowed to dominate people. It doesn’t mean that there will be no rulers, CEOs, or commanders. It means there will be no dominators, like now, who think they need to break human relationships, to shape human personalities, to restrict human thinking, human choice and actions, and what they are allowed to watch, to listen to, to think, and to speak. But this is reality in full display today.

So we are in a situation where the whole train is slowly going to hell. It is not fast, because you may react. It is a somewhat gentle process, but nevertheless steadily going forward day by day. What the elites do not understand is that reality is so much richer than in their parties, ceremonies, or kind of drugs. They do not see; they are consumed by the process they serve, by the striving for domination. They don’t see the simple thing that one human to another is another world, full of endless possibilities. They are hypnotized by that process, that attitude. To some implicit extent, they are possessed by it.

But the process is objective. It has an objective goal and objective measures. And it brings what it promises: domination. Maybe it’s time for people to choose cooperation, to choose relationships with full awareness of the gravity of that choice. You may share this view, but the issue of God is unavoidable here. It is fundamental to humanity. This premonition, this thought, that there is Something and Someone else. And it is not about a specific religion. It is about the very foundation of reality, because in fact, nothing can exist without relationship. Existence itself is an expression of relationship, even something directed towards the void. Isn’t it? The concept of God says that there is a side of relationship for every being, even a lone human being. That there is something behind our awareness, some source of our ideas and creativity. We do not produce a lot of what we invent or create. It „comes to us”, so there has to be a place from which all of this is coming.

So let’s be in relationships with God, with other people. Let’s not abandon cooperation and the value of other people; yes, they have flaws, as we do. But only in this way can we stand on the right side, we may preserve what is human, the essence of humanity, which means we all create freedom and care about ourselves, and see one another as a real, not merely declared, value.

And let us be reasonable in this endeavor. Because rational thinking and reasoning is the foundation for any successful effort. Let’s hope that we are wanted, we will do our part, and there’s something far greater than us that cares for us. This is not a dream, this is not an emotional play, this is a reasonable perception of things. In other words, this is truth. And maybe the truth can set us free, of course, if we really want it and do something according to it.
