Warszawa walczy i czeka. Walczą żołnierze Armii Krajowej, walczą robotnicy i inteligenci, walczą dziewczęta i dzieci, walczy naród cały, który w namiętnym pragnieniu prawdy, wolności i zwycięstwa dokonał cudu całkowitego zjednoczenia.
Znam, zanadto dobrze znam''.
Żołnierze Armii Krajowej,
My tutaj czynimy dalsze wysiłki, aby uruchomić pomoc dla was. Otrzymujemy wciąż jeszcze obietnice i przyrzeczenia.
Kazimierz Sosnkowski
Londyn, 1 września 1944
Soldiers of the Home Army,
Five years have passed since the September Campaign (2) when Poland having listened to the British government's encouragement and having received its guarantees, engaged the German military might. The September campaign gave the Allies eight months of priceless time and allowed the British to make preparations which led to the victorious Battle of Britain, a turning point of history. History has yet to render its judgment on the impact the September campaign has had on the world's fate.
Polish mortal combat against the German imperialism has never been broken. As soon as the darkness of occupation fell on the Polish villages and towns, Polish Armed Forces were resurrected on foreign soil. For five years now, they have fought the enemy on the high seas and on land defending the peoples’ freedom everywhere, and trusting that it was the way to their own truly free, independent and undivided Homeland. The formation of underground resistance had begun in the occupied Homeland in October 1939. The history of its growth and battles, constitutes proof of what can be accomplished when the purest moral values are awakened. Soldiers of the Armed Forces in exile, victorious in the battles for London, the Atlantic, Rome and Paris acknowledge the military merits of their brothers in arms at home and look at those achievements as an example of moral guidance.
For one month now, fighters of the Home Army, together with the people of Warsaw, bleed on the barricades in the battle against the enormous supremacy of the enemy. Isolation of the September Campaign and isolation of the current battle for Warsaw, are not comparable. People of Warsaw, left alone and abandoned on the front of common struggle against the Germans, that is the tragic question which we the Poles are unable to understand given the technical superiority of the Allied forces, on the cusp of the sixth year of the war.
Unable to understand it because we still believe that in the world governed by morality justice will prevail. Unable to understand it because we believe that politics devoid of moral values is only capable of the sinister "Mane, tekel, fares" (3).Unable to understand it because it is hard for us to believe that opportunism motivated by physical force, can justify indifference in the face of the agony of the Capital of the country whose soldiers defended or liberated so many other capitals. Lack of aid for Warsaw is explained away by logistics. Arguments of gains and losses are given. The loss of twenty seven planes over Warsaw in one month pales in comparison to the might of the military force of the Allies who currently have at their command several thousand planes of all types. If we are to consider the losses so carefully now, it also has to be remembered that Polish airmen suffered over forty percent losses in the battles over London. Fifteen percent crew and planes were lost while trying to help Warsaw.
For five years now, the Home Army has fought the Germans in unimaginable conditions which the West may yet come to realize.
The Home Army in Poland is the only military organization to be recognized and considered. Its struggles, successes and victories are as clear as crystal. That is the truth that has been obscured for so long, so that someone, somewhere, strong and mighty would not furrow their brow. This truth will prevail and no hand will stop the shining light from Warsaw.
Warsaw is waiting. Not for empty gestures, lip service and pity. Warsaw is waiting for supplies of weapons and ammunition. Warsaw is not asking for alms like a poor relation, waiting for crumbs from the master’s table. Aware of the treaties entered into by the Allies, Warsaw demands that they be fulfilled.
Warsaw is fighting and waiting. Everyone is at arms, the soldiers of the Home Army, the workers, the youth, the children, the whole nation is miraculously united in the desire for the truth, victory and freedom.
If the people of our Capital were to perish under the rubble of their own homes, if the people of Warsaw were to be massacred for the lack of help and support, indifference or just cold hearted calculations, then the conscious of the world would be burdened with the sin of a terrible injustice inflicted on Warsaw, injustice unparalleled in history. Sometimes guilty conscious may kill.
Your commander is accused of not foreseeing the abrupt halt of the Soviet offensive at the gates of Warsaw. None other but the tribunal of history will render its judgment, and we are not afraid of its verdict. We, the Poles, are accused of failing to coordinate our Rising with the military planners in Eastern Europe. If need be, we can prove how many of our attempts were ignored. For five years now, the Home army has been accused of feigning action against the Germans. Today the Home Army is accused of fighting too much and too well. Every soldier must now be thinking of Wyspianski's verse:
"…filth and lies,
I know it all, I know it well."
Soldiers of the Home Army,
We here make further efforts to secure help for you. We keep receiving new promises and assurances. We trust in them and remain convinced that trust will not be taken away from m the Polish Armed Forces on the eve of victory and triumph of our common Allied goal.
On behalf of your brothers in arms, carrying on fighting on all the fronts of the world, I would like to reassure you that our thoughts are always with you. Let this knowledge make the burden of your days of awe and glory easier to bear. But first and foremost, I want you to know that any sacrifice conceived out of the purity of the heart, is not a sacrifice in vain and your struggle has done the Polish cause an indisputable service.
Commander-in-Chief
Lieutenant General
K. Sosnkowski

Gen. David Petraeus visited Poland
2010-04-09
Between 6th and 8th April U.S. CENTCOM Commander Gen. David Petraeus paid an official visit to Poland.
On 7th April during the ceremonial welcome at General Staff HQ, General Petraeus turned directly to the troops of Honour Guard with words of appreciation for all Polish soldiers.
Petraeus said that he treats opportunity of service with Polish forces as an honour. During the joint press conference with gen. Gągor CENTCOM commander expressed his appreciation for the changes which occurred since Poland’s accession to NATO. He also emphasized the role Polish forces during operations abroad, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan. Asked by journalists about the chances of success of the fight against terrorism, Gen. Petraeus pointed out to the importance of civil-military cooperation and so-called "Comprehensive approach in achieving the desired results of operations, saying that" the conduct of military operations is a necessary, but not the only condition for success in the war on terror". Referring to the planned handover of the U.S. battalion under tactical command of the Polish contingent in Afghanistan he said that it is a wonderful opportunity to deepen bilateral cooperation.
The same day, Gen. Petraeus was received by the President of Poland Lech Kaczyński where he was awarded with the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit and the Star of Iraq for outstanding cooperation with the Polish Contingent. On 8th April Gen. Petraeus was awarded by the Minister of National Defence with Gold Medal of the Polish Armed Forces.

Gen. Petraeus during decoration expressed his great respect and recognition for the troops of Lubliniec. As he stated “the unit commanded by the soldier has had an unprecedented input into the successes of the special operations’ and the whole ISAF operation”.
The awarded commander emphasized that this recognition is a sign of appreciation not only personally for him but also the honouring of all his subordinates from Lubliniec.
The 8th rotation of the Polish Task Force completing its mission in Afghanistan received many times highest words of recognition for their service which greatly improved security of the province. Troops of Lubliniec performed a series of operations along with Afghani Security Forces during which they detained persons suspected of conducting terrorist activity, recovered ammo caches and destroyed IEDs. It is worth mentioning a few particularly important operations that significantly weakened the terrorist activity, i.e. the liquidation of explosives production site in Giro district where insurgents were confiscated about 340 kg of explosive materials. Polish Task Force also arrested many insurgents who attacked bases and convoys and kidnapped people.
One of the latest successes of the Task Combat Group was detention on 12th March in the Gelan district Abdul HAQ terrorist being high on the ISAF Joint Prioritized Effects List. It was another terrorist from the JPEL list detained by special forces’ from Lubliniec.

W sierpniu 2008 r. Tu-154 z prezydentem Kaczyńskim leciał do Azerbejdżanu. Prezydenccy urzędnicy poprosili jednak podczas lotu pilot kpt.
