A wonderful gift to the World! Yad Vashem, World Center for Holocaust Research, bestowed a title, The Righteous Among The Nations, on a Polish family of Katarzyna, and Marian Domański, and their daughter Leokadia Pauzewicz. Mr Marian, and Katarzyna Domański, risking their lives, took in a Jewish girl, Frederica Godlewski, from the Warsaw ghetto, and kept her safely in their flat until the war was over, thus saving her from certain death. Braking the law stripping Jews people of their human rights, and seemingly their very humanity, issued by German occupying authorities, they listen to the inner voice telling them right from wrong, thus preserving their own humanity in those beastly times.
What is remarkable is that in spite of the fact that every inhabitant of this tenement house was aware of the little Jewish girl hiding there, nobody informed German occupiers about her.
Who saves one live, saves the whole world. We know about almost 6 300 Polish people who saved whole world. Let us remember them.
Wspaniały prezent dla świata: rozpoznano i upamiętniono jeszcze jedną rodzinę Sprawiedliwych Wśród Narodów, tytuł nadawany przez izraelski instytut pamięci Yad Vashem tym ludziom, którzy w czasach Holocaustu nie zapomnieli o swoim człowieczeństwie i ratowali Żydów, którym antysemickie dekrety III Rzeszy, to człowieczeństwo zdawały się odbierać. Państwo Katarzyna i Marian Domańscy z Warszawy odrzucili pozorną praworządność hitlerowskich dekretów i opierając się na własnym wysublimowanym poczuci sprawiedliwości ryzykując śmierć swoją i swoich dzieci, ocalili od zagłady małą dziewczynkę Fryderykę Godlewską urodzoną w Gdyni.
