December, 19.
11:00 a. m. – Ales Michalevic had voted at his polling station.
since 1.00 p. m. – Michalevic`s campaign office like campaign offices of other opposite candidates started to get a big amount of claims and evidences of serious violations on the elections. For example, one of the video that was made at a polling station in Minsk shows how a member of local electoral commission ask his colleagues to what pile should he place a bulletin with a vote for Ales Michalevic. According to the official results nobody had voted for Michalevic at this station.
8.30 – 9.00 p. m. – Ales Michalevic took participation in the first opposition rally that was held on the October Square in the centre of Minsk. Since from the very beginning of his presidential campaign Michalevic was rather skeptic on the issue of mass protests success after the elections and didn`t participate in organizing of rallies and demonstration. So when the demonstration began he went to his office for consultations with his team.
11 p. m. – 2 a. m. – Michalevic decided to came on the rally near with the Belarusian Parliament when he knew that special squads began the brutal breakdown of the rally. To the moment when Ales Michalevic came to the rally a big amount of its participants were beaten and injured. Michalevic joined to those who used their cars to drive injured people to the hospitals. When there`s nobody left on the square he returned to his office.
December, 20.
4:30 a. m. – KGB workers broke the door to Ales Michalevic office and detained him. Location of Michalevic became known only to the next day when a worker called the wife of politician and told that her husband is in KGB remand prison.
4:50 a. m. – Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission presented the official results of presidential elections. According to it 65 748 voters (1, 02% in total) had voted for Ales Michalevic. The OSCE observers mission concluded that the elections weren`t corresponding to its standards. A number of states and organizations didn`t recognize the election results. We should remind that only during the signature collection period more than 120 000 voters left their signatures in support of Ales Michalevic`s running for presidency.
5.00 a. m. – KGB workers blocked an informal office of Ales Michalevic in downtownarea where some members of his office waited for the election results. The metal door prevented the workers from getting to the office.
5.50 p. m. – After the failure of special service workers attempts to break the office door they called for assistance an emergency crew. The crew used a special equipment to saw up the door that let the Special Forces to take the office by storm. After the storm the office had been sealed and everybody who was blocked in the office (Pavel Markantsov, Vyacheslav Dianov and authorized representatives of Ales Michalevic Nikita Krasnov and Evgeny Ivanuk) were handcuffed and delivered to the police station.
December, 21. Michalevic`s defense attorney Oleg Ageev made his first visit to his client. It was the only visit he could made during the December. As Mr. Ageev had learned Ales Michalevic was detentioned as a suspected in organizing of mass disorders.
December, 22. Special service workers called for interrogationhead of Michalevic`s officeduring the presidential campaign Ihar Drako and campaign spokesperson Tatyana Coreivo. During the period from 20th to 23rd of December special service workers made their second visit to the main office of Michalevicduring the presidential campaign. At the time of their visit there was no one in the office so the door was broken again and the search was fulfilled without witnesses.
December, 23. The term of Michalevic detain was prolongated from 3 to 10 days. All attempts of Oleg Ageev to meet with Ales Michalevic one again were failed that led him to sent a claim to the Attorney General of Belarus. The answer on the claim is still waited.
December, 24. Special service workers confiscated mobile telephone of Mr. Drako during the interrogation in KGB headquarters. Ms. Coreivo was subjected to psychological pressure during her interrogation that made her to suspend cooperation with Michalevic till the situation in Belarus will be settled.
December, 25. KGB workers searched the flat where lives Ales Michalevic and his family. During the search the workers confiscated all computer technics including the notebook that belongs to 10-year-old daughter of politician. After the search in the flat the workers led to the office of Michalevic in order to make there a search once again.
December, 26. Special service workers came to the Minsk office of Belsat TV – a satellite channel that was organized by the EU in order to develop belarusian independent media. The office is located in an ordinary flat that partly belongs to Ales Michalevic (the channel rent the flat). The search was hold late at night when the flat was empty. Before the search the workers saw up the door.
December, 27. Special service workers searched an apartments of politician`s sister Olga Michalevic and his authorized representatives Alexander Lucashevich and Konstantin Lucashou. During the searches they confiscated all notepapers, diaries, documents and computer techincs they found. Before the search in the flat of Olga Michalevic the workers tried to make an informal interrogation of her 15 year-old son (nephew of politician) who was alone in the flat on the moment of their visit.
December, 29. KGB searched the garage that belongs to Michalevic`s father-in-law and the flat where Ihar Drako lives (PC of Mr. Drako was confiscated).
On the 29th of December Ales Michalevic was officially accused in organizing of mass disorders. If he will be returned guilty he will be jailed on the term from 5 to 15 years.
December, 31. Special service workers made a search in the flat of Michalevic wife`s parents.The search was conducted in a few hours before the New Year. It looks like that the aim of the search was in an exerting psychological pressure upon Michalevic`s family because during the search nothing was confiscated and the search was conducted just when Milana Michalevic (wife of the politician) brought her children to her parents for marking the New Year.
January, 4. Leader of Michalevic`s initiative group Jury Meliashkevich was called for interrogation to KGB headquarters.
January, 5. Family of Ales Michalevic (his wife Milana, his sister Olga and her common-law husband Ihar Zenchyk) got in a road accident. Nobody was injured but an accident took place under unusual circumstances. It took place when the road in front of their car was blocked by a large crossover and the car of Michalevic family was stopped. In that moment it was rammed from behind by a minibus. After the accident driver of a minibus called the police which confiscated the documents of Olga and took her husband to the police station. Late at night he was freed.
At the 5th of January special service workers searched the house of one of the union «For Modernization» co-founders Ales Vaskovich.
January, 6. After his second meeting with his defense attorney Ales Michalevic was moved to the police prison. Three days later he was moved back to KGB remand prison. Any attempts of defense attorney and relatives to obtain meeting with politician were failed.
January, 10. Members of Michalevic`s initiative group from Molodechno and Vitebsk regions Jan Lagvinovich and Alexander Golovan were searched and interrogated by the KGB workers.
January, 11. Ales Michalevic was recognized as a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International.
Authorized representative of Ales Michalevic during the presidential elections and member of the union «For Modernization» council Konstantin Lucashou was resigned from the Belarusian Academy of Sciences where he worked as a scientist (like his father Mr. Lucashou is a famous belarusian geologist).
January, 12. In the 11th of January eveningAles Michalevic made his only call to his wife. He said that if she will refuse to visit the Sejm of the Republic of Poland he will have a possibility to call her once again. Milana Michalevic said that during the conversation she heard a voice of a stranger who told her husband what to say. Answering the question about the sanctions that will be used to him in the case of her visiting the Sejm Ales Michalevic stated that «worse that it is now for him it will not be». Thereafter he said that if during the week nobody will get information about his destiny she must do «everything». Ales Michalevic didn`t finish the statement because the call was interrupted by somebody.
Inspite of the call Milana Michalevic decided to accept an invitation to address the Polish Sejm. But for two hours before the departure of the train to Warsaw a number special service workers came to her with the search. They went away only after the train left the station that made friends of the Michalevic`s to take Milana to Warsaw by car. After the car left the city passengers saw about five cars full of men that followed for them. Late at night the escort stopped the car with Milana Michalevic and KGB workers declared that she can`t leave the country until her husband is accused. Afterwards car with Mrs. Michalevic was convoyed back to Minsk.
January, 14. Milana Michalevic received a first letter from her husband dated January 9th. The letter is rather strange and laconic. Therein Ales Michalevic asks Milana to pass him some kind of food which is in prohibited in prisons and tells that he didn`t accept any letters from her (she sent him more than 10 letters).
January, 15. Milana Michalevic noted that people from abroad can’t to get through to her mobile and home phones. Later, right away after the night when Ales Michalevic was arrested, she found out that taxi services refuse to accommodate her when she calls from her telephone numbers.
January, 17. Ministry of Justiceof the Republic of Belarus sent a claim to Minsk City Bar in which it proposed to punish 4 defense attorneys of opposite politicians. Names of lawyers are restricted but according to the reasoning of a claim (criticism of belarusian judicial system by attorneys) it becomes clear that these people are attorneys of 4 opposite candidates (including Michalevic`s attorney Oleg Ageev). Minsk City Bar refused to punish the lawyers.
