Jako rzecznik Komitetu Pomnika Zbrodni w Lesie Katyńskim, mam obowiązek opublikować załączoną informację prasową, którą podpisał dziś w obecności adwokata prezes Krzysztof L. Nowak.
Zostało to uczynione w oczekiwaniu na sfinalizowanie umowy zaproponowanej przez burmistrza Jersey City, Stevena Fulopa. Zgodnie z tym porozumieniem Rada Miasta ma wydać Zarządzenie, które wyznaczy nowe miejsce Pomnika Katyńskiego, jeden blok na południe od obecnej lokalizacji, tj. tam gdzie York Street kończy się na brzegu rzeki Hudson. Oczekujemy że rozporządzenie, którego tekst ma zostać zaproponowany i opublikowany w poniedziałek, 14 maja 2018 r. (choć jego uchwalenie, zgodnie z prawem, zajmie co najmniej dwie sesje Rady Miejskiej) będzie zawierało mocne sformułowania zapewniające że będzie to stała lokalizacja pomnika. Nowa lokalizacja ma zostać przekształcona i przebudowana, aby była godna i odpowiednia do przyjęcia Pomnika Katyńskiego, który następnie ma być przeniesiony tam bezpośrednio, w sposób zapewniający jego godność, bez demontażu i bez tymczasowego przeniesienia do magazynu. Wszystkie koszty tej operacji pokryje miasto Jersey City. Komitet poprosił również o dodanie do umowy wynajęcie od miasta za symboliczną opłatą pomieszczenia z wejściem od ulicy, w którym mieściłoby się Muzeum Zbrodni w Lesie Katyńskim oraz biuro Komitetu.
Jako gest dobrej woli, w oczekiwaniu na sfinalizowanie tej umowy i rozporządzenia Rady Miejskiej, Komitet zgodził się zawiesić demonstrację zwołaną na sobotę, 12 maja 2018 r. o godz. 13.00 przed Urzędem Miejskim w Jersey City. Zawieszenie oznacza, że NIE BĘDZIE demonstracji teraz, ale możemy to zrobić później, jeśli nie będziemy zadowoleni z tego, jak miasto sfinalizuje obietnicę umowy.
Prosimy o pomoc w rozpowszechnianiu tego komunikatu w mediach, aby możliwie jak najszybciej poinformować opinię publiczną o zawieszeniu demonstracji.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
As the spokesman for the Katyń Forest Massacre Memorial Committee, I have an obligation to publish the attached Press Release, which was signed today in the presence of the attorney by President Krzysztof L.. Nowak.
This was done in anticipation of finalization of an agreement proposed by the Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop. According to the agreement, the City Council is expected to issue an Ordinance which will designate a new place of the Katyń monument one block south of the current location, i.e., where York Street ends on the Hudson River bank. The Ordinance, whose language is expected to be proposed and published on Monday, May 14th, 2018 (but its adoption, by law, will take at least two sessions of the City Council) is expected to include strong language assuring that this shall be the monument’s permanent location. The new location is to be modified and developed to make it dignified and suitable to accept the Katyń Monument, which is to be moved afterwards directly there in a way which assures its dignity, without disassembling it and without any temporary moving it to a storage space. All costs of this operation are to be covered by the City. The Committee also asked to add to the agreement that a street front office space be leased from the City at a symbolic monthly cost, to serve as a Katyń Forest Massacre Museum and Committee’s main office.
As a gesture of good will, in anticipation of finalization of this agreement and of the City Council Ordinance, the Committee agreed to suspend the rally previously scheduled for Saturday, May 12th, 2018 at 1:00 PM in front of the City Hall in Jersey City. Suspension means that we shall NOT hold the rally now, but we may do so later if we are not satisfied with the City living up to the promised agreement.
Please assist in distributing this announcement to the media, to as timely as possible let the public know about the suspension of the rally.
