Where Have All The Flowers Gone?

(Music box znajduje się tutaj: theblues-thatjazz.com/en/box/10667-where-have-all-the-flowers-gone.html  )

W latach 1950-tych Pete Seeger często występował na liberalnych uniwersytetach amerykańskich. Kiedyś w 1955 roku podczas lotu samolotem na koncert zapisał trzy linijki tekstu:

'Where are the flowers, the girls have plucked them.
Where are the girls, they've all taken husbands.
Where are the men, they're all in the army.'

(Gdzie są kwiaty dziewczyny je zrywają
Gdzie są dziewczyny wychodzą one za mąż
Gdzie są mężczyźni są oni w wojsku.)

Pete Seeger (ur. To on wprowadził do Ameryki a tym samym i do muzyki światowej kubański przebój Guantanamera (tu otym pisałem).

Trzy linijki tekstu nie były przypadkowe. Seeger był zainspirowany przez Szołochowa. Rok wcześniej przeczytał on Cichy Don, a zaciekawiła go tam piosenka ludowa Kozaków, tzw. Koloda Duda.

Wypełzła dopiero wtedy gdy dołożył do tekstu frazę: "long time passing."

'Where have all the flowers gone -- long time passing' można było już wykonać.

Parę lat później w 1959 lub w 1960 roku agent Seegera poinformował go, że Where have all the flowers gone została nagrana przez folkowy zespół Kingston Trio.

W 1963 podczas występów w Ameryce wykonała już po angielsku Where have all the flowers gone w Waszygtonie.

Where have all the flowers gone?

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the flowers gone?
The girls have picked them ev'ry one.
Oh, when will you ever learn?
Oh, when will you ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the young girls gone?
They've taken husbands, every one.
Oh, when will you ever learn?
Oh, when will you ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the young men gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the young men gone?
They're all in uniform.
Oh, when will you ever learn?
Oh, when will you ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the soldiers gone?
They've gone to graveyards, every one.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the graveyards gone?
They're covered with flowers, every one.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the flowers gone?
Young girls picked them, every one.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the flowers gone?

Gdzie są kwiaty z tamtych lat?

Gdzie są kwiaty z tamtych lat? Jasne kwiaty...
Gdzie są kwiaty z tamtych lat? - Czas zatarł ślad...
Gdzie są kwiaty z tamtych lat? Każda z dziewcząt wzięła kwiat...
Kto wie czy było tak... Kto wie czy było tak...

Gdzie dziewczęta z tamtych lat? Jak te kwiaty...
Gdzie dziewczęta z tamtych lat? - Czas zatarł ślad...
Gdzie dziewczęta z tamtych lat? Za chłopcami poszły w świat...
Kto wie czy było tak... Kto wie czy było tak...

Gdzie są chłopcy z tamtych lat? Dzielne chwaty...
Gdzie są chłopcy z tamtych lat? - Czas zatarł ślad...
Gdzie są chłopcy z tamtych lat? Na żołnierski poszli szlak...
Kto wie czy było tak... Kto wie czy było tak...

Gdzie żołnierzy naszych kwiat? Tych sprzed laty
Gdzie żołnierzy naszych kwiat? - Czas zatarł ślad...
Gdzie żołnierzy naszych kwiat? Tam gdzie w polu krzyża znak...
Kto wie czy było tak... Kto wie czy było tak...

Gdzie mogiły z dawnych lat? - Tam gdzie kwiaty...
Gdzie mogiły z dawnych lat? - Czas zatarł ślad...
Gdzie mogiły z dawnych lat? Tam gdzie kwiaty posiał wiatr...
Kto wie czy było tak... Kto wie czy było tak...

Gdzie są chłopcy z tamtych lat ?

Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind ?

Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind,
wo sind sie geblieben?
Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind,
was ist geschehn?
Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind,
Mädchen pflückten sie geschwind.
Wann wird man je verstehn,
wann wird man je verstehn?

Sag mir, wo die Mädchen sind,
wo sind sie geblieben?
Sag mir, wo die Mädchen sind,
was ist geschehn?
Sag mir, wo die Mädchen sind,
Männer nahmen sie geschwind.
Wann wird man je verstehn,
wann wird man je verstehn?

Sag mir, wo die Männer sind,
wo sind sie geblieben?
Sag mir, wo die Männer sind,
was ist geschehn?
Sag mir, wo die Männer sind,
zogen fort, der Krieg beginnt.
Wann wird man je verstehn,
wann wird man je verstehn?

Sag, wo die Soldaten sind,
wo sind sie geblieben?
Sag, wo die Soldaten sind,
was ist geschehn?
Sag, wo die Soldaten sind,
über Gräbern weht der Wind.
Wann wird man je verstehn,
wann wird man je verstehn?

Sag mir, wo die Gräber sind,
wo sind sie geblieben?
Sag mir, wo die Gräber sind,
was ist geschehn?
Sag mir, wo die Gräber sind,
Blumen wehn im Sommerwind.
Wann wird man je verstehn,
wann wird man je verstehn?

Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind,
wo sind sie geblieben?
Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind,
was ist geschehn?
Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind,
Mädchen pflückten sie geschwind.
Wann wird man je verstehn,
wann wird man je verstehn?

Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind ?

Qui peut dire où vont les fleurs ?

Qui peut dire où vont les fleurs
Du temps qui passe
Qui peut dire où sont les fleurs
Du temps passé
Quand va la saison jolie
Les jeunes filles les ont cueillies
Qu'en saurons-nous un jour ?
Quand saurons-nous ? Un jour…

Qui peut dire où vont les filles
Du temps qui passe
Qui peut dire où sont les filles
Du temps passé
Quand va le temps des chansons
Se dont données aux garçons
Qu'en saurons-nous un jour ?
Quand saurons-nous ? Un jour…

Mais où vont tous les garçons
Du temps qui passe
Mais où sont tous les garçons
Du temps passé
Lorsque le tambour roula
Se sont faits petits soldats
Qu'en saurons-nous un jour ?
Quand saurons-nous ? Un jour…

Mais où vont tous les soldats
Du temps qui passe
Mais où sont tous les soldats
Du temps passé
Sont tombés dans les combats
Et couchés dessous leurs croix
Qu'en saurons-nous un jour ?
Quand saurons-nous ? Un jour…

Il est fait de tant de croix
Le temps qui passe
Il est fait de tant de croix
Le temps passé
Pauvres tombes de l'oubli
Les fleurs les ont envahis
Qu'en saurons-nous un jour ?
Quand saurons-nous ? Un jour…

Qui peut dire où vont les fleurs
Du temps qui passe
Qui peut dire où sont les fleurs
Du temps passé
Sur les tombes du mois de mai
Les filles en font des bouquets
Qu'en saurons-nous un jour ?
Quand saurons-nous ? Jamais…
