TheSyrianArabRepublicis a democratic, people’s socialist sovereign State. No part of

its territory can be ceded. It is a part of the Arab homeland (article 1 of the Constitution). The

system of government is republican and sovereignty is vested in the people (article 2 of the

Constitution). The Socialist Arab Ba’th Party is the leading party in society, and leads a patriotic

and progressive front seeking to unify the resources of the people’s masses and place them at the

service of the Arab nation’s goals, (article 8 of the Constitution). At present, this front comprises

nine parties, including the Ba’th Party. People’s councils are organs elected in a democratic way

at which the citizens shall exercise their rights in administering the State and leading the society

(article 10 of the Constitution).

No nie, albo prezydent nie zna swojej konstytucji, albo.... konstytucja to świstek papieru, tak jak np. konstytucja PRL, ktora tez dawala liczne prawa obywatelom.

W tym drugim wypadku nie mozna zatem liczyć, że jakies reformy konstytucyjne zmienią represyjny charakter panstwa, skoro istniejąca konstytucja nic nie znaczy. Nie ma żadnej gwarancji, że nowa konstytucja coś zmieni.

Przy okazji, zabawne, że państwo, które masowo zabija swoich obywateli, podpisało Miedzynarodowy Pakt Praw Politycznych, czyli zobowiązało sie przestrzegać praw człowieka. I widać, w jaki sposób przestrzega - gestapo byłoby dumne z syryjskich metod.....
